Collecting Things
I don't actually have any collections...maybe a few things that I tried to start collections of, but I never really made an official effort to be any kind of collector. Lately I have been thinking that I want to be a collector. A real collector of something. But then, you have to decide what to collect. Here's what I have decided....
#1. Foxes! I am collecting all things foxy! Particularly I would like to start a collection of fox figurines. From my etsy searches I can already tell they are hard to find, but that just makes the prospect of collecting them more fun and special.
#2. Paint-by-Numbers paintings! I realize I am totally jumping on the bandwagon with this one (late in fact) but I do find the paint-by-number chic very charming. I want so many of them!
#3. Keys! This is one that sort of has come about organically, in that I was fascinated with the fact that so many keyholes in English doors are still shaped in a vintage key shape. The first time I visited the boy I totally got a kick out of this detail, and likewise my in-laws got a kick out of the fact that I was excited by such a detail. So, just this past Christmas my lovely brother and sister-in-law, Neil and Katie, gave me some vintage keys for a present and I think the keys they gave me should be the first few of many. Agreed?
Yes. All in all, I think these will be very good collections indeed!

New Collections
I have decided that my shop, Pressed Between Pages, needs a face lift. I have been so inspired and so excited by new possibilities that it's been difficult to zero in on one idea this week. But as I mentioned earlier, I was commissioned to make a special hair accessory for a bride's wedding, as well as design and make something for her little flower girls, and it got me into wedding mode! So, here's a sneak peak at one collection: Bridal~
Stay tuned for more collections coming soon!

Here is what I have been working on lately. I was commissioned to design a special hair accessory for a wedding, along with some pretty headbands for the flower girls. I am pretty pleased with how things are looking.....just hope the Bride likes it too!
If you have a special event or a special design you'd like me to make let me know! Happy Tuesday!

Beauty School
Today I took a page from Elsie's beauty school course and tried out some new make-up techniques.
That along with freshly painted fingers and toes and a home-hair coloring kit and I am feeling like a new woman! It was a very nice "salon day" from the comfort of my home!
How was your Sunday?

{real love}
I am extremely lucky to have such a nice husband who does so many nice things to show me that he loves me. One of the best things he does for me is set up the coffee-maker after I have gone to sleep and he sets the automatic timer so when I have to get up early I have a fresh pot of delicious coffee waiting for me in the kitchen. I think that's very very nice indeed. That's real love.
Working on a Dream
Hey lovelies! I am feeling much better and inspired this weekend, so while I have to go teach some little tots how to dance this morning, I will be back with some super fun blogging later. Yay! It's gonna be a good day!

Hippos in Tutus
Somehow last night, the boy and I started talking about Disney's Fantasia. We both commented on how it's been ages since we've seen it, and how there are specific pieces of music that now when we hear it, we can only think of that Fantasia segment. For the boy it's the Dinosaur section set to The Rite of Spring, and for me it's those fabulous dancing hippos set to Dance of the Hours. I love that segment (as I think most ballerinas would) cause it just cracks me up every time!
I found these cool pictures from a Fantasia book~

Something Cold
I am feeling pretty crummy about things at the moment. I don't want to go into details but fortune has been particularly bitchy to me and the boy lately, and she has forced me to make some drastic decisions. But I feel that the time to hesitate is through...no time to wallow in the myre. Or in other words: Ch-ch-ch-ch-ChangesTurn and face the strain
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man (or lady)
Time may change me
But I can't trace time.....

But I can't trace time.....
Sorry. I often get carried away with classic rock. But basically what I want to say is that I have had to make some pretty challenging decisions and i feel pretty bad about disappointing people I care about. However, I know I must be strong. I need to persevere and not allow myself to feel too guilty. Because I need to straighten things out. I need to keep things in perspective and if I can do all that, I know I can make things good again....Right? Right.

Sandwiches & Laughter
This Saturday, July 17th, the Los Angeles Swap Meet is happening at Dodger's Stadium. So, before you come to my dance show, stop by and see my friend Katy's booth. She will be selling her adorable tea cup candles from her shop Dream Holding Hands, as well as showcasing some of my own homemade wares from my shop Pressed Between Pages.
I still have so much to do before then, but here's a few snapshots of what I plan to contribute~
Don't miss it! It's gonna be great!

wonder-ful clothes
When I was growing up, The Wonder Years was one of my favorite TV shows. I loved to watch the growing pains of young Kevin Arnold coming of age in the late 1960's. And through it all was his girl-next-door girlfriend Winnie Cooper.
I often found Winnie's character annoying and bland (I think Kevin could have done better, but hey what do I know?) But despite that, I must admit that I completely loved her clothes! I wanted to rock the Winnie Cooper look: turtle-neck sweaters, knee socks, short skirts and low slung belts comprised some of the most memorable outfits. But I also liked all the formal dresses Winnie wore anytime she and Kevin went to the school dances. Often a 1970's pastel baby-doll dress, each more adorable as the next!
{I searched the world wild web, but coun't find any better Winnie Cooper pics than these. }
Maybe it's the "Winnie Cooper Effect" that caused me to don this vintage dress to my brother's birthday last week~
I think it was a successful outfit, despite a few jokes at my mock-turtle-necked expense.

Fourth and Firey Fun!
Did you have a fun and patriotic Independence Day? I sure did. The boy and I spent the day with family, eating good food, drinking margaritas and trying not to set ourselves on fire with sparklers! It was an awesome day.
