Ok, so Meet Me in St Louis is not a Christmas movie, I know. But the last few scenes at the Christmas ball always make me feel sentimental. I just love Esther's red dress. And when she waltzes around the Christmas Tree with her Grandpa and ends up with John Truitt-- Oh it gets me everytime! I love this movie and love Judy Garland's look in the final scenes. The feeling of family and Christmas spirit in the film is undeniably sweet!

Stealing Small Screen Style: Pan/Am
I must admit, that I'm excited for the launch of ABC's new series Pan Am... not only does it star Christina Ricci (one of my favorite actresses since we both were like 10 and the coolest hipster girl long before we even knew there was a Zooey Deschunel) but it also is going to no doubt feature an awesome 1960's wardrobe. I know the show doesn't begin till Sunday, but after seeing posters and billboards up all around town, I decided to garner my own Pan Am inspired look...
I wasn't actually having the best hair day and kinda wish I had gone with a more polished up-do...Maybe next time.
Skirt: Vintage (looks like it may have been an actual flight attendant skirt)
Shirt: Express
Shoes & Earrings: Target
Here's the trailer for the new show. I can't wait for it to begin...All these new shows make me wish we actually had cable!

Play-Tone Times
I was watching That Thing You Do the other night and I was reminded not only how much I like that film, but also how fabulous it's production design and costuming is, especially in regards to Liv Tyler's adorable outfits. I also like her cute 1960's hairdos. So fab! I think I may have to do a new Screen Style post a la The One-ders! I'm also digging the retro play-tone label and the blue and lime color combo!

Stealing Screen Style: Catherine Deneve
Today's Screen Style inspiration is taken from Catherine Deneuve's adorable 1960's look from the French musical film The Umbrella's of Cherbourg. Have you seen it? If not, you simply must. Not only is it a touching and heart-wrenching love story, with beautiful music and songs, but it also just looks stunning. The set design color palate is bright and unique, with quaint french avenues and vintage wallpaper. The clothes are equally charming, and Deneuve's character, Geneviève, is often clad in pretty skirts, colorful cardigans and with girlish ribbons in her hair. I did my best to recreate one of her looks...
I actually wore this outfit to work yesterday, bow and all, and got some interesting reactions. I think some people thought I was nuts but plenty of others dug the look. Thank you Catherine Deneuve!

Stealing Screen Style
Today's Screen Style outfit was my attempt to channel a bit of the Audrey Hepburn look circa Sabrina and Funny Face.
I wore straight, black, capri-length trousers, simple satin ballet flats (that would be the Funny Face bit) with a dark blue and black plaid men's cut shirt. I really wanted to capture Audrey's blend of sophistication and youthful charm that always seemed inherent in her style choices. I finished the look off with a high messy-bun and baby bangs. Simply lovely darling!
